The Trump presidency has been fraught with unfounded allegation after unfounded allegation being leveled against either Trump himself or his election staff by members of the Democrat party who were allied with Hillary Clinton, and who may have used the FBI as a political tool to scandalize Trump and bring him down.
Another Senate hearing is due to begin this week, wherein FBI Director James Comey will testify as to the bureau’s relationship with ex-British MI6 agent Christopher Steele. Steele is responsible for creating the dossier that was used to accuse members of Donald Trump’s election staff of collusion with Russian agents to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, will head up the probe, where FBI Director Comey will be expected to answer questions about the FBI’s relationship with the ex-British spy. In a letter Grassley sent to Comey on Friday, he stated that the FBI Director made some inconsistent statements.
“There appear to be material inconsistencies between the description of the FBI’s relationship with Mr. Steele that you did provide in your briefing and information contained in Justice Department documents made available to the Committee only after the briefing,” Grassley wrote to Comey.
Here is the letter:
From the Daily Caller:
Grassley, a Republican, has repeatedly pressed Comey about reports that the FBI cooperated with Steele and even offered to pay the former MI6 agent $50,000 to continue his research on Trump. FBI agents reportedly met with Steele in July and again in October to discuss his findings, which were laid out in a 35-page dossier published by BuzzFeed in January.
Grassley has expressed concern about those discussions because Steele was working on behalf of an opposition research firm (Fusion GPS) that was, in turn, working for an ally of Hillary Clinton’s.
“The idea that the FBI and associates of the Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for President in the run-up to the election raises further questions about the FBI’s independence from politics, as well as the Obama administration’s use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends,” Grassley wrote in a March 6 letter to Comey.
In the letter, Grassley expressed concerns about whether the inconsistencies were mistakes or attempted concealment of the extent of the FBI’s relationship with Steele.
“Whether those inconsistencies were honest mistakes or an attempt to downplay the actual extent of the FBI’s relationship with Mr. Steele, it is essential that the FBI fully answer all of the questions from the March 6 letter and provide all the requested documents in order to resolve these and related issues,” Grassley wrote.
If it were discovered that FBI Director Comey willingly cooperated or conspired with the Democrat party to help Hillary Clinton defame Donald Trump’s character and defeat him in the election, it would further scandalize the Democrat party, alongside legitimizing Trump’s claim that his campaign staff and headquarters at Trump Tower probably were under surveillance by President Obama’s deep state operatives.
At every stage, Trump’s statements about the alleged “wiretapping” of his headquarters and surveillance of his staff by those loyal to Hillary are ringing true and, hopefully in the near future, we will see the Obama/Clinton cartel end up where they belong. In prison! Wouldn’t that be great?
