As a businessman, President Donald Trump is all about negotiating deals to lower costs for taxpayers.
That appears to be just what he did after contacting the CEO of Boeing to try and get a better deal on the cost of two new Air Force One planes for future presidents.
Trump spoke at a rally in Florida on Saturday before meeting with the Boeing executive to try to arrive at a more cost efficient amount for the planes. According to Trump, he saved American taxpayers ONE BILLION DOLLARS on the cost of the two planes.
From the Washington Examiner:
“We’ve got that price down by over $1 billion, and I probably haven’t spoken for more than an hour on the project,” he said Saturday during a rally in Florida, referring to the price to construct two new Air Force One planes.

Documents released two months ago revealed that construction of the planes would cost American taxpayers approximately $4.2 billion.
After this news broke, Trump arranged a meeting with Boeing’s chief executive during which he extracted a pledge that the final cost would not exceed $4 billion, according to CNBC.
We’re going to get it done for less than that, and we’re committed to working together to make sure that happens,” Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg said afterward.
As noted by The Blaze, a second Air Force One plane exists to serve as a decoy, especially when the president is visiting foreign nations.
Trump also used his time at the lectern Saturday to slam the disastrous deal the Obama administration had made with Lockheed Martin to build F-35 fighter jets. Earlier this month the president reached a new and reportedly better deal that will reportedly save hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money.
With the cost of living, taxes, and the national debt skyrocketing during the Obama administration, we’re all for Trump saving us as much money as he can. With a billion dollars here and a billion dollars there, before long, it will add up to some serious money that’s not being flushed down the toilet.
