America is a nation of laws written consistent with our Constitution. When this breaks down, we cease to be the same country we were, and the direction of the country becomes a matter of mob rule. This problem has been illustrated with particular fervor in the conflict over immigration policies and law enforcement.
The left has decided that open immigration and borders as well as granting full rights to those who arrived here illegally is desirable. They might try to couch their support in words that express compassion and openness, but the issue boils down to one of the destruction of traditional American culture which the left despises, and an increase in the number of Democratic voters which the left loves. Lost in all of this are our immigration laws.
So it is time to once again to explain things so that only those who do not wish to believe the truth will miss it. Immigrants who arrived here illegally are criminals. Some just milk the welfare systems intended to help Americans, programs that are already stretched. Others go on to commit more serious crimes. None has any right to be here. None has any right to vote. Only American citizens have the right to be here and to vote. Those who are here illegally need to be sent back home. And this is just the message that President Trump has made clear.
Here a summary of President Trump’s position from Yes I’m Right: “[A]ny illegal found to be living on welfare would immediately have their a**** packed up shipped back to their homeland. But it gets even better. Any person believed to be coming to America to just freeload, could be permanently banned from entering America too. Conservative Daily Post reported, that liberals are not happy. One Congresswoman has even come out calling the executive order ‘inhumane.'”
At the risk of sounding just a bit sympathetic to the liberal cause, the US government has not helped this matter at all. In fact, given the lax enforcement of the immigration laws over at least the past eight years, it’s not hard to understand why migrants might decide to give entering the US illegally a whirl. After all, the laws don’t seem too important to the president, and the potential welfare benefits are well worth the risk. Put another way, the Obama administration has encouraged the breaking of our immigration laws.
What we have here are two wrongs: In the first place, the Obama administration created an atmosphere that encouraged illegal immigration by looking the other way. In the second place, regardless of what the president might do, what these migrants did was still illegal, subjecting them to arrest and deportment once a proper government got elected and chose to do its job. This is what we have with the Trump administration.
All the liberal whining takes on a hypocritical tone when looking back a couple of administrations. ZeroHedge reminds us of these comments:
“We are a nation of immigrants.. but we are a nation of laws.”
“Our nation is rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country…”
“Illegal immigrants take jobs from citizens or legal immigrants, they impose burdens on our taxpayers…”
“That is why we are doubling the number of border guards, deporting more illegal immigrants than ever before, cracking down on illegal hiring, barring benefits to illegal aliens, and we will do more to speed the deportation of illegal immigrants arrest for crimes…”
“It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws that has occurred in the last few years.. and we must do more to stop it.”
Now that sounds like something some “heartless” conservative would say. Not so. Those are the words spoken by President Bill Clinton. And you can watch his State of the Union address here:
What is this world coming to when we’d actually agree with something Bill Clinton said? Perhaps President Trump should make a copy of that and email it to all the congressmen, senators, and governors and see what happens.
