President Trump was not kidding when he said he would crack down on illegal immigration, and the statistics being released prove that to be true.
While it will take time to build the border wall, no time is being wasted in empowering Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in their work to arrest and deport illegals. In other words, Mr. Obama’s policy of open borders has come to an end.
In contrast to Mr. Obama, President Trump is dedicated to making the nation more secure. In order to do this, ICE has been unshackled so it can perform its job. As a result, 21,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested so far, many of whom have committed crimes in addition to entering the nation in violation of its laws. And this is just a preview of what’s to come.
The Washington Post reports that “Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 21,362 illegal aliens from January 20 through March 13, an increase of 5,258 from the same period in 2016.”
Here’s the kicker that illustrates how vital President Trump’s policies regarding illegal immigration are as the Post adds that “[n]early 75 percent of those arrested, a total of 17,921, are criminal illegal aliens. The number of non-criminal illegal aliens arrested has more than doubled.”
In other words, these illegals are not all nice people who arrive here illegally because they just don’t want to be bothered with the red tape involved in entering the country legally. Almost three out of ever four arrested are criminals apart from their violation of immigration laws.
Why would anyone want these dangerous criminals in our country? Was Mr. Obama that desperate to disrupt our culture or get votes for Democrats that he would have the government look the other way as violent criminals flooded over our border? It seems so. What other reason could there have been? He had to know what was going on.
Here’s another encouraging statistic: “Since President Trump took office on January 20, the apprehension of illegal aliens attempting to enter the United States has decreased by 61 percent, as reported by Breitbart Texas.”
“As the president of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brandon Judd, told Fox Business Channel’s Stuart Varney, ‘the handcuffs are being taken off the law enforcement agents, and we’re putting the handcuffs back on the criminals.'”
A hearty well done to ICE and the Border Patrol, and a thank you to President Trump are clearly in order.
