The practice of the Muslim faith is protected in America under the First Amendment. Sometimes the statement is made that, “you either believe in free speech for everyone or for no one.” There is much truth to that, and it applies to matters of the free exercise of one’s religious beliefs as well.
However, what is not protected is engaging in subversive, illegal political activities while using a faith as cover. There are groups in the United States doing just that. Coddled by the Obama administration, they are coming under increased scrutiny by President Trump and his team. Sparks will fly when Mr. Trump takes action, but those screams will be the result of subversives being exposed, not because anyone’s rights were violated, which is what will be claimed.
It is an unfortunate fact of life that there exists within those who profess to be faithful Muslims, groups that support and engage in terrorism. There is no pleasure here in making that observation of fact. Mr. Obama refused to admit the problem even existed, thereby allowing matters to get worse under his leadership. President Trump is calling out those who present threats to the nation, and the backlash has been fierce. Expect the debate to get even more acrimonious if he takes the action that is anticipated.
This is the decision which, if made, will set things off: “The New York Times is reporting that the White House is considering designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. President Trump’s advisers are debating the move, which would cut off funding to the Muslim Brotherhood and related groups in the U.S.”
A report via the Daily Caller states that, “The Muslim Brotherhood also has connections to the U.S. through Muslim organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America…”
And it’s not just the Trump administration that has had enough of supporting terrorist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates. “Last month, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart re-introduced bills in their respective chambers calling for the Muslim Brotherhood terror designation. ‘I am proud to reintroduce these bills that would codify needed reforms in America’s war against radical Islamic terrorism,’ Cruz said in a statement last month. ‘This potent threat to our civilization has intensified under the Obama administration due to the willful blindness of politically-correct policies that hamper our safety and security.'”
All of this is good news. There is no excuse for government supporting terrorists or groups working to subvert our Constitution and laws and replace them with laws that are the antithesis of the principles on which this nation was founded.
If Muslims wish to practice their faith in peace, then they are certainly permitted to do so free of any government coercion. If they, or the adherents to any other faith, wish to use their faith as a cover to support terrorists or act to subvert the Constitution of this nation, then they need to be identified as such and dealt with as provided by law.
The Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates need to be properly identified and denied any government support immediately. The days of allowing threats to the nation to grow must be over.
