We’re very much aware of Mr. Obama’s dislike for the nation of Israel. The most recent manifestation of this just happened in the United Nations Security Council when the United States chose not to use its veto power to stop an anti-Israeli resolution from passing. It was a stunning and disgraceful way for Mr. Obama to punctuate the end of his official relationship as president with the Jewish state.
It’s not just the nation of Israel that Obama despises. Note the hostility that exists between Mr. Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu. This is no way to treat an ally. And it has only been made worse by Obama’s ridiculous bowing before despots such as the Saudi monarch.
Thankfully, Mr. Obama will be out of office in less than a month. In his place comes Donald Trump who, along with Senator Cruz, have just launched a broadside attack against both the United Nations and Mr. Obama. And neither Mr. Obama nor his globalist friends at the United Nations are going to like this at all. But we think patriotic Americans are going to love what is just about to happen.
In response to Mr. Obama’s cowardly actions at the United Nations, “Republican Sen. Ted Cruz called for the U.S. Congress to cease funding United Nations operations until a vote the UN held Friday is reversed. The vote in the UN officially calls Israeli settlements in ‘occupied Palestine’ illegal, and demand that Israel ‘immediately and completely cease all settlement activities.’”
It’s about time the United States stop funding an organization whose favorite activity has been to stick its thumb in our eye. This has gone on far too long, and if this incident with Israel is the catalyst that motivates Congress to cut funding to this playground for tyrants, so be it.
Senator Lindsey Graham is on board with the idea stating that, “’I anticipate this vote will create a backlash in Congress against the United Nations,’ Graham said. ‘The organization is increasingly viewed as anti-Semitic and seems to have lost all sense of proportionality. I will do everything in my power, working with the new administration and Congress, to leave no doubt about where America stands when it comes to the peace process and where we stand with the only true democracy in the Middle East.’”
For all its lofty goals, the United Nations has really been a dismal failure. As Trump recently pointed out, the organization holds meetings and activities, but really doesn’t accomplish much. Try to think of a war that the United Nations actually stopped, or a conflict where they reduced tensions. Those are incredibly rare occasions.
What the United Nations does do it put nations that are notorious for their abuse of human rights such as Saudi Arabia on international committees that are supposed to be promoting those very rights such nations abuse.
It’s an institution that in its current form is useless. Can it be changed in some way so that it at least provides some benefit to the world? Doubtful, although Mr. Trump has announced that business as usual with the United Nations is over.
Whatever the case, the Trump and Cruz offensive against the United Nations is a great place to start. And also a great way to remind everyone that Barack Obama and his policies are soon to be history.
