Interestingly enough, there are geographically large “red” areas in California. Yet the population centers are so highly concentrated with those of liberal beliefs that the state remains a bulwark in the network of leftist governments. This has an impact beyond just the Electoral College. What happens in California does have an affect beyond its borders partly due to the mainstream media centers there, and partly because the state just has such a huge population.
As we are painfully aware, California is a hotbed of activism in favor of sanctuary cities and other efforts to thwart the enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws. This extends beyond the lawmakers and reaches into the courts as well.
However, we didn’t expect such a blatant statement in support obstructing federal immigration officers in the execution of their duties to come from the state’s Chief Justice. But it did.
“According to Red State Watcher, California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye has just advised United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions that she wants ICE agents to stay out of California courthouses indefinitely.”
The California Chief Justice just ordered law enforcement officers out of the courthouses? Exactly. Here are some excerpts from her letter.
“Dear Attorney General Sessions and Secretary Kelly:
“As Chief Justice of California responsible for the safe and fair delivery of justice in our state, I am deeply concerned about reports from some of our trial courts that immigration agents appear to be stalking undocumented immigrants in our courthouses to make arrests.”
“Stalking” – now there’s a pejorative term. So right at the beginning we have a good idea where this is going. The middle of the letter is mostly fluff discussing how dedicated she and her courts are to justice and how vital they are. Okay, fine, we’ll not argue that point. But it’s the last paragraph that is astonishing.
“As officers of the court, we judges uphold the constitutions of both the United States and California, and the executive branch does the same by ensuring that our laws are fairly and safely enforced. But enforcement policies that include stalking courthouses and arresting undocumented immigrants, the vast majority of whom pose no risk to public safety, are neither safe nor fair. They not only compromise our core value of fairness but they undermine the judiciary’s ability to provide equal access to justice. I respectfully request that you refrain from this sort of enforcement in California’s courthouses. —Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye”
She just made several outrageous statements. She again showed her lack of respect for ICE agents by claiming they are “stalking courthouses.” She objected to the arresting of those she acknowledges are in violation of the law by her referring to them as “undocumented immigrants.” She also objected to the arrest of these admitted lawbreakers because they “pose no risk to public safety,” as though people are not to be arrested for crimes unless they are engaging in violent behavior. She also insinuated that arresting these people is equivalent to the denial of justice.
She may as well just hang signs in front of California’s courthouses stating “Justice-Free Sanctuaries for Illegal Aliens” and install living quarters for them. After all, if she lets these “undocumented immigrants” back out on the street, they might run into an immigration agent “stalking the streets,” looking for criminals. In which case she would need to ban all ICE agents from the entire state – which is no doubt exactly what she would like to do.
And how many people are moving out of California?
