We are inundated with lurid predictions of the immanent collapse of the Trump administration. Perhaps since the Democrats led by Hillary got their heads handed to them in the 2016 presidential election, they’ve decided the next best move is to try to force President Trump from office. This would include launching spurious investigations as well as getting a cooperative media and entertainment industry to claim he leads a failed administration. It’s not a very honorable approach, but whoever expected that from this crowd?
They are repeating Hillary’s fatal error, that being underestimating Mr. Trump. One does not get where he has in business by being a pushover or by backing down from aggressive challenges. Unlike most of our politicians, he has had to actually work to achieve success that can be objectively measured. Politicians are typically under no such pressure.
So we are delighted and not one bit surprised to learn that the U.S. Supreme Court has supported the president by setting aside a decision by an appeals court that blocked his travel ban. This constitutes yet another win for the president. This is something that the Democrats and their allies in the media and entertainment are just going to have to get used to. Just like they are going to have to come to terms with the fact that they cannot intimidate him, something that is giving them fits.
“President Trump won yet another battle when the Supreme Court late Tuesday tossed out an appeals court ruling that struck down his previous temporary travel ban targeting eight Muslim-majority nations that are known terrorist hotbeds.
“Even though the ban had already expired (and been replaced by a new one), the ruling was a moral victory signifying that Trump and his administration had been within the law and the Constitution when taking action to protect America.
“‘In a one-page order, the court acted in one of two cases pending before the nine justices over Trump’s travel ban, a case from Maryland brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, which sued to stop the ban contained in a March executive order,’ Reuters reported.”
This is a simple acknowledgment of the power the president has to enforce border and immigration laws. The left can try to turn it into a civil rights issue, but that doesn’t wash as law enforcement will go after all who try to enter the nation illegally. If that happens to be predominately Latinos, that would be because they are the predominate group seeking illegal entry, not because border patrol is seeking that ethnic group out while giving other ethnic groups a free pass.
“The ruling allows the Trump administration ‘to exclude most refugees from entering the United States while the Supreme Court considers challenges to its revised travel ban,’ The New York Times wrote.”
What’s the Supreme Court going to do, take away the power of the president to enforce the border laws, border laws that the Supreme Court has elected not to strike down? It would make no sense to allow laws to stand while banning their enforcement.
In fact, the president’s job is to enforce the nation’s laws. That Mr. Obama chose not to do so in several areas places no constraints on President Trump that would force him to mirror his predescessor’s negligence.
The Supreme Court ruled correctly. So much winning.
