When Barack Obama was president, we very seldom ever saw him acting patriotic or exhibiting anything other than disdain for America’s traditional holidays. Especially when it came time to celebrate Independence Day and others that honor America’s history and Founding Fathers.
President Trump, however, is a tried and true American with red, white and blue in his veins. He has the utmost respect for our veterans and a patriotic spirit that makes us proud. And his mission for the next four years is this: America First!
Recently, we learned Trump plans to create another national holiday which will, no doubt, have liberals howling.
From Joe for America:
“Shortly after taking office as the 45th U.S. president, Trump signed a series of documents on the Senate floor establishing his new administration,” the Associated Press reported. “Among the president’s first acts was signing a proclamation for a national day of patriotism, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer revealed on Twitter.” Although no further specifics about this day were given, Spicer repeatedly emphasized that the reason for it was to ‘Make America Great Again.’
With the exception of one Patriot’s Day in 2014, I don’t even remember Obama TALKING about patriotism. He did do a good deal of trying to lift up our enemies and radical Islamic extremists.
According to BizPac Review:
The president reserves the right to declare one-time holidays, but only Congress has the authority to create federal holidays. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama used this power to declare Sept. 11 Patriot’s Day.
By way of a presidential proclamation, Bush established Patriot’s Day in 2002, and Obama did the same in 2014.
Sept. 11 was first declared a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
In the United States, a federal holiday is an authorized holiday which has been recognized by the US government. Every year on a US federal holiday, non-essential federal government offices are closed, and every federal employee is paid for the holiday. Private-sector employees required to work on a legal holiday may receive holiday pay in addition to their ordinary wages.
I cannot wait and see what day of patriotism President Trump has in mind for all of us to celebrate!
So far, not a day has gone by since Donald Trump was elected that he hasn’t done something that makes America a greater place to live.
If this trend continues, He will indeed “Make America Great Again!”
