If the Republicans in Congress are going to make the most of the historic opportunity that has been presented to them, they are going to have to learn about party unity and elect quality leaders in order to make it happen. The simple fact is that there are those in leadership positions in the House and Senate who hold views at variance with more conservative members of Congress, and especially with the base that delivered the White House to Donald Trump and the Republicans.
Perhaps if some of these individuals would sit down and really consider what things would have been like with Hillary as president, perhaps, just maybe, their attitudes would change. Fossils like John McCain are probably beyond help, but there are those who could make a big difference. One would be Speaker Paul Ryan.
To put it bluntly, the Speaker needs to decide whether he is going to support the president’s agenda and actually do so, or he should resign. If he does neither, the Republican majority in the House should fire him. And if you want to hear that said just as bluntly, you can listen to Judge Jeanine.
It started with one of the president’s famous tweets: “President Donald Trump sent out a foreboding tweet on Saturday morning asking his followers to watch Judge Jeanine Pirro’s show later in the evening, leaving many to wonder what was so important that he would take the time to send out such a specific request.”
You can watch her monologue here:
So, what happened on Pirro’s show? “Pirro’s ten-minute opening statement represented what millions of conservatives across the country have felt about Ryan’s leadership for a number of years.”
And here are the ten words that every American wants to hear right now:
“‘Paul Ryan needs to step down as Speaker of the House,’ Judge Jeanine began. ‘The reason? He failed to deliver the votes on his health care bill, the one trumpeted to repeal and replace Obamacare, the one that he had seven years to work on, the one he had under lock and key in the basement of Congress, the one that had to be pulled to prevent the embarrassment of not having enough votes to pass.'”
Spot on. What kind of leader is this Paul Ryan fellow, anyway? After all these years in the House and he cannot figure out how to get a bill passed when his party is in the majority? If so, he is utterly incompetent and must be replaced immediately. If not, then he deliberately sabotaged the president and must be replaced immediately.
We can turn to Breitbart which “reports that Judge Jeanine Pirro took direct aim at Ryan while emphasizing that this failure was completely on him and not Trump. ‘I want to be clear, this is not on President Trump. No one expected a business man to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins and outs of Washington and its legislative process. How would he know which individuals upon which he would be able to rely?’ Judge Jeanine asked, hypothetically.”
Once again, spot on. Speaker Ryan is supposed to know to make the legislative process work. Either he does not or wants President Trump to fail. He should be fired at once. Perhaps, as has been suggested by others, Representative Trey Gowdy might make an excellent Speaker. At least he would help drain the swamp rather than serving as an impediment such as Mr. Ryan.
