Obama’s latest deceptive scam brings to mind a favorite Bible verse: “whatever you have whispered in closets will be proclaimed upon the rooftops.”
Or, to put it another way, the cat’s out of the bag.
Perhaps we should back up a moment. Reports are coming in all over of yet one more series of executive actions and late-night sessions to pass yet one more pile of anti-business progressive legislation. And while Obama’s administration is no stranger to these sleazy techniques, this last session appears to be special – planned, since Election Day, to make Trump’s initial weeks as difficult as possible.
Normally, there’s some sort of denial from the administration. This time, though, no one has said a word. They’re not even trying to hide it anymore.
The planned legislation, as reported by the American Action Forum, is environmental. And, like most environmental regulations, it’s unnecessary, restrictive, and incredibly expensive.
Also, there’s five of them.
From the AAF: “These five measures alone could impose $5.1 billion in costs and more than 350,000 paperwork burden hours. In addition, three other rules in proposed form could add $898 million in burdens and 146,000 paperwork hours, for a cumulative total of nearly $6 billion in potential midnight costs and nearly 500,000 burden hours from the two agencies.”
I suppose it’s fitting for the Obama administration to cap off eight years of making life difficult for businessmen and entrepreneurs by placing even more restrictions on their work, as well as sucking more money from taxpayers. Consistency is best, after all.
The good news? Trump’s administration can repeal all of these late-night legal idiocies. The bad news, though, is that it might take a while. And while Trump is certain to handle it efficiently, it does make for a difficult first few weeks, as legal monstrosity after legal monstrosity is revoked, repealed, or just ignored out of existence.
So, while Obama’s childish actions will probably not have the long-term effect that liberals hope, they still function as a giant ‘neener neener’ to the grown-up and thoughtful lawmakers coming in with Trump to fix them. Liberals are clearly models of maturity.
Childish actions have become a standard hallmark for Obama, be they throwing fits when votes don’t go his way, undercutting allies with arrogant speeches, or passing executive orders when Congress refuses to ignore the laws of the United States. We can all be grateful that such behavior will be a thing of the past on January 20th.
