It’s amazing how the left is so shaken by Donald Trump’s victory that liberals of some alleged intelligence have been reduced to making incredibly stupid statements. We’re not talking about Hollywood loons like Michael Moore or Rosie O’Donnell here – anyone who takes seriously the nonsense from those folks is very desperate to be misinformed.
Neither are we referring to politicians who have an axe to grind and an agenda to push. We expect outrageous comments from leftist politicians, although we don’t condone their irresponsibility. Many times these folks are very good at hiding their intelligence behind their support for dangerous or nutty ideas. In other cases, they just are not very bright to begin with.
The subject here is a former Obama administration official, who is mulling over what she considers are the benefits of a possible overthrow of the federal government. If the idea of considering the merits of a military coup taking out the government that legally followed yours sounds like something that would be more likely to happen in a banana republic, it’s simply an example of the intensity of liberals’ angst over Mrs. Clinton’s defeat by President Trump and its impact on their thinking and behavior. We see this play out in the following news story.
The story begins here: “In a blog post for Foreign Policy magazine, Rosa Brooks, a former Obama administration official, outlined four ways to ‘get rid’ of President Trump, including declaring him mentally unfit for command or carrying out a military coup.”
You need to know who Rosa Brooks is. She is, “a Schwartz senior fellow at the New America Foundation, which is funded by billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. She served from 2009-2011 as Counselor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and served as a senior adviser at Obama’s State Department.”
With those credentials, especially her connection to George Soros, you know her to be a confirmed globalist, a leftist, and an enemy of the US Constitution. So upset is she with Mr. Trump that she has taken to making utterly irresponsible and unsupported statements. In fact, “[I]n what seems to be a deliberate tactic, Brooks repeatedly questions Trump’s mental stability, claiming that the president’s first week in office ‘has made it all too clear: Yes, he is as crazy as everyone feared.’”
So, what are Ms. Brooks’ possible solutions to what she imagines are the dangers presented by President Trump?
Brooks listed four ways to get rid of a “crummy” president.
- Elect him out of office after his four-year term. “But after such a catastrophic first week, four years seems like a long time to wait,” she wrote.
- Impeachment. However, she lamented, “impeachments take time: months, if not longer — even with an enthusiastic Congress. And when you have a lunatic controlling the nuclear codes, even a few months seems like a perilously long time to wait.”
- Utilizing a claim of mental instability to invoke the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, which sets the path for the commander-in-chief’s removal if the “president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
- A military coup. She writes: “The fourth possibility is one that until recently I would have said was unthinkable in the United States of America: a military coup, or at least a refusal by military leaders to obey certain orders.”
Ms. Brooks is not qualified to comment on Donald Trump’s mental stability. In fact, that she is flirting with the idea of a violent overthrow of the federal government demonstrates that she is not qualified to be taken seriously with regard to matters of state. Add to that her connection to George Soros and you can see her and her ideas precisely for what they are.
These are the ravings of a staunch leftist who is unable to come to terms with the defeat not only of Mrs. Clinton, but of the ideas to which she clings tenaciously. It also indicates that she is devoid of intelligent ideas for engaging in a debate. The Obama presidency of which she was a part is over. The sooner she accepts that the sooner she will stop wasting people’s time with absurd proposals.
