Mr. Obama may have been a force behind the allegations that the Russians covertly worked to help elect President Trump, but if so, his effort is working out about as well as the rest of his initiatives: It’s turning into a flop, as no proof has been presented of any such collusion.
On the other hand, President Trump’s accusations of wiretapping of his offices in the Trump Tower during the campaign by the Obama administration are gaining support. As more individuals are drug into this scandal, more information is coming to light. None of it looks good for Mr. Obama or his Democratic associates.
This scandal got its start with a few tweets from President Trump. “A day after President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama of having wiretapped his phone during the 2016 election, WikiLeaks linked its Twitter followers to a bombshell report containing evidence of the former president’s proclivity for spying.”
Has President Trump made a valid accusation? If you can believe WikiLeaks, President Trump certainly would not have been the first target of wiretapping by Mr. Obama. In fact, it almost seems like an obsession of his. “The WikiLeaks report specifically consisted of ‘highly classified documents’ showing that over the course of Obama’s presidency his National Security Agency repeatedly violated constitutional integrity so as to snoop on the communications of other world leaders.”
So who did Obama apparently order his intelligence services to snoop on? “In 2008, for instance, the NSA bugged a climate change strategy meeting between then-United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.”
Now those are supposedly two of Mr. Obama’s good friends. You can only wonder what he would do with his enemies.
These wiretaps do not appear to be isolated instances, but rather a routine practice of the Obama White House. “Everyone from Japanese trade ministers to top European Union officials and even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was spied on by the Obama administration. Even American journalists were targeted by the Obama administration. As noted by Conservative Review, ‘the Obama Justice Department secretly subpoenaed two months’ worth of 2012 phone records from Associated Press journalists’ — and also ‘collected the phone records of Fox News reporter James Rosen, and his parents.'”
For those who lived through the whole Watergate fiasco that toppled the Nixon administration, seeing something similar develop again is not what was expected. Yet human nature remains the same, while today’s technology is far beyond what was available in 1972. Not the least of which is the internet and organizations like WikiLeaks that have proven to be an enormous source of embarrassment and humiliation for some in government as well as providing an incredible look into matters that typical American citizens have never before seen.
None of this proves he had Donald Trump wiretapped during the election campaign. Yet if these allegations are true, one would almost be surprised if he did not have Mr. Trump bugged.
We await additional developments with great eagerness. You can see the full list of Obama’s victims here.
