There is little to be gained by continuing to complain about the leftist bias of the mainstream media. It’s unlikely to change anytime soon, so conservatives need to move forward with our agenda utilizing the resources at hand to publicize our positions and efforts. And we can be encouraged by the myriad of tools available to us today. That the mainstream media’s monopoly to disseminate the news has been broken is a fact. All that is left is to take maximum advantage of that fact.
Some of us remember when news arrived via one or two major local daily newspapers, several radio stations, and three networks on television. With no competition to speak of, the ability of those media outlets to manipulate public opinion was unchallenged. No more.
Note the uproar over President Trump’s latest order banning migrants from seven countries. The left is in a state of righteous fury over what they consider to be an insensitive and bigoted decision. But what if we were to tell you that those nations selected by Mr. Trump were not original choices of his, but that their designation pre-dated the Trump administration?
This is a perfect cause for the liberals. Few things get them as upset as some apparent slight to one of their preferred ethnic or religious groups. Mr. Trump’s banning of migrants from selected countries is just the sort of decision they love to use to launch their attacks on what they believe are racist and xenophobic actions. Their problem is that Mr. Trump did not originally select the countries for designation as potential sources of trouble.
President Trump clearly is responsible for the selection of the nations that are the subject of his recent executive order. However, he is not the first to identify them. That distinction would fall to Mr. Obama. Talk about an inconvenient fact for left. Here is the story the left does not want to acknowledge or for you to know about:
“How, though, did the Trump administration choose these seven Muslim-majority countries? The truth is it didn’t: The countries were chosen during Barack Obama’s presidency.
“According to the draft copy of Trump’s executive order, the countries whose citizens are barred entirely from entering the United States is based on a bill that Obama signed into law in December 2015.
“Obama signed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act as part of an omnibus spending bill. The legislation restricted access to the Visa Waiver Program, which allows citizens from 38 countries who are visiting the United States for less than 90 days to enter without a visa.”
While Mr. Obama may have recognized the risk to Americans, “due to political expediency at home, he never followed through with the policy that he knew would protect Americans.”
And let’s not forget Mr. Obama’s former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her involvement:
Via Right Wing News:
Oh… the hypocrisy! Hillary Clinton slithered out of her lair long enough to attack President Trump over his freezing of refugees from countries known to be hotbeds of terrorists. She had the nerve to say: “I stand with the people gathered across the country tonight defending our values & our Constitution. This is not who we are.”
Nothing that Trump just did was unconstitutional. These are not American citizens. As far as values go, Clinton doesn’t have any that we are aware of. Oh, but it gets better… in 2011, Obama froze refugees coming from Iraq for six months. His Secretary of State was Hillary Clinton…Trump also limited the number of refugees to 50,000 a year. Since Obama has already brought in over 32,000 this year, that doesn’t leave that many slots still open. This is a matter of national security, which is exactly what Obama and Clinton cited in 2011.
So will the left applaud Mr. Trump for implementing procedures that Obama and Clinton prepared? You already know the answer to that question. They’ll just ignore it and hope you do to.
But they know the truth, and you know the truth. Just don’t let them forget it.
