All right America, brace yourself. This time we’re having a bit of a replay. Yes, it’s the email scandal surfacing once again. Do you think the Clintons ever worry about this sort of thing? Do they just see being under investigation for criminal and civil offenses to simply be a normal part of the lives of those in politics such as they?
Whatever their thinking, Hillary is back in the news with legal problems over her crazy home-brew email server. What a ridiculous thing to get into so much trouble over. It would be comical were it not for the fact that classified documents were put at risk, meaning people’s lives were put at risk by the miserable contraption. And her troubles with it are not over yet.
Judicial Watch is once again looking out of Americans’ interests. And in so doing it comes as no surprise that they have filed a lawsuit that involves Hillary Clinton. “Judicial Watch has just filed suit against the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Department of State. They are required to assess and report on whether and how Hillary Clinton’s email practices damaged national security. This is required by law and was never done. The suit goes directly after Comey in the FBI and his statement that Clinton used an unsecure email account while Secretary of State.”
Perhaps someone in those government offices thought they’d try the old tactic of ignoring the problem and hoping it would go away. Wrong again. Judicial Watch is not going to let them get by with it.
Here’s a press release that offers us the details:
“Judicial Watch today filed suit against the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Department of State to require them to conduct, as required by law, an assessment and prepare a report on how and whether Hillary Rodham Clinton’s email practices as U.S. Secretary of State damaged national security.
“The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, cites the requirement in Intelligence Community Directive (“ICD”) 732, issued on June 27, 2014, that a damage assessment be conducted whenever there is ‘an actual or suspected unauthorized disclosure or compromise of classified national intelligence that may cause damage to U.S. national security’ ICD 732(D)(2) (Judicial Watch v. Office of the Director of National Intelligence et al. (No. 1:17-cv-00508)).”
The problem Mr. Comey has got here is that he did acknowledge that classified national intelligence material had been mishandled. Hence the provisions of the directive cited applies. More from the press release:
“The suit specifically refers to FBI Director James Comey’s statement on July 5, 2016, concerning Clinton’s use of an unsecure email account while conducting official State Department business:
“From the group of 30,000 e-mails returned to the State Department, 110 emails in 52 e-mail chains have been determined by the owning agency to contain classified information at the time they were sent or received. Eight of those chains contained information that was Top Secret at the time they were sent; 36 chains contained Secret information at the time; and eight contained Confidential information, which is the lowest level of classification.”
Not surprisingly there are others in various government intelligence offices who are caught up in this lawsuit.
No wonder Mr. Obama and Hillary were so eager for her to win the presidency. She could have stalled investigations and obstructed justice in ways that have probably yet to have been thought of. Instead we have this remark from Judicial Watch, “‘The Obama administration conspired with Hillary Clinton regarding her emails, so it is no surprise that Obama officials wouldn’t want to hold her to account for her mishandling of classified materials,’ said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. ‘This lawsuit is an opportunity for the Trump administration to get back to basics on the Clinton email scandal and find out what damage was done to our national security as a result of her illicit email practices.'”
Both Obama and Hillary must be cursing the voters for electing President Donald Trump.
