President Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico is just one part of his plan to secure the nation’s borders. Increased enforcement of existing immigration laws is another part.
Taken together, the components are designed to make America a place this is welcoming to those who come here legally and in peace, and hostile to those who arrive otherwise.
Hence, President Trump presents a major obstacle to the left on a number of levels. Hillary Clinton’s shocking defeat sent the left back on their heels, yet it should never be supposed that they are ready to give up. Even so, President Trump is pressing on, and just won another round in his campaign to build the border wall.
Opposition to the wall has not come solely from the left. As expected, Mexico has taken offense, and its government has claimed that in no way will they pay for even part of it. Yet President Trump continues to make progress as,“at least one Mexican company has heard the pleas to build the wall, and they’re willing to help.”
When interviewed about the wall, “A Mexican cement company says it would aid the construction of President Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border if asked. ‘We will gladly do it,’ Cemex President Rogelio Zambrano told Mexican newspaper Reforma Wednesday, according to NBC News. Zambrano was answering whether Cemex, one of the world’s largest cement producers, would provide a cement estimate for the controversial barrier.”
Of course they would be willing to participate. Even though part of the wall will actually be a fence, this project will take a lot of cement. The shareholders of Cemex should hang Zambrano out to dry if he said anything else. And Cemex has a lot of company, too: “The Hill reported late Tuesday that 225 companies — mainly construction and engineering firms — have voiced interest in building Trump’s proposed wall.”
What about President Trump’s assertion that Mexico will pay for this project? “Vice President Pence stressed Wednesday that Mexico will eventually foot the bill. ‘We’re gong to build a wall,’ he said on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America.’ ‘We’re going to enforce the laws of this country.'”
The interview continued: “‘[Trump] didn’t say Mexico is going to pay for [the wall],’ host George Stephanopoulos said, referencing Trump’s speech to Congress Tuesday. ‘Well, they are,’ retorted Pence, the former Republican governor of Indiana.”
It’s really amazing. President Trump is not only going to secure our southern border with Mexico, but he’s also going to create jobs for Mexicans who are employed by Mexican firms that will participate in this project. Who would have thought Mexicans would have been part of the “winning” as well?
