It must be miserable for the members of the liberal mainstream press to have to spend time reporting on Donald Trump when they’d much rather be covering Mr. Obama. Of course, this is all Trump’s fault. After all, if he were not busy interviewing business and political leaders all day, there wouldn’t be much to report on with Trump, so the press could hang out with their favorite president for one last hurrah before January 20.
Alas, that’s not to be. For Donald Trump is no Barack Obama. In fact, it would be hard to imagine two men who were any more different. Trump probably accomplishes more in one day than Obama does in two months. And on top of that, what Mr. Trump accomplishes will actually benefit the American people, unlike his predecessor.
So, during this Christmas season, with so many wonderful traditions and opportunities to celebrate in Washington, where do we find Mr. Obama? Take one guess.
Yes, once again, Mr. Obama is on vacation in Hawaii. You’d think he was born there or something.
That he has frequently been on vacation hasn’t been all bad. After all, if he’s playing games with his kids, working out at the gym, or playing golf, at least he’s not attending to matters of state – and that’s a good thing. Who knows, if he were on the job he might think up another country to betray at the UN.
But pity the poor press corps: “Gone are the years reporting from Hawaii. With less then four weeks to go until he assumes office, any reporter who wants to keep up with Trump is somewhere near his Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the Washington Examiner — and they’ll be reporting on his work, not taking pictures of Trump in a ridiculous bicycle helmet.” It must be absolute misery for them.
And it doesn’t sound like the press is going to get to go on many vacations with Mr. Trump. Why not? Mr. Trump explains, “’I mean, there’s just so much to be done. So I don’t think we’ll be very big on vacations, no,’ he said. Trump also said that he would be foregoing his $400,000 annual salary.”
Probably, when you get right down to it, maybe it would be best if Obama just stayed in Hawaii and sent for his things to be shipped from the White House to his new Hawaii residence via FedEx or UPS.
We really don’t have to have him at Trump’s inauguration, do we?
