This week, the House Intelligence Committee made headlines as they decided that the whole Trump-Russia Collusion story was still inadequately answered and that there were still too many unanswered questions remaining for them to just push it under the rug and move on to other matters. The problems that many have seen here is a lack of cooperation (bordering on obstruction) on behalf of the FBI, CIA, and the NSA.
With ruminations about letters written before Hillary Clinton had even faced questions regarding her email server scandal that stated she was to be found not indictable, even the Senate Judiciary Committee has been busy attempting to get to the bottom of these stories that appear to have a common link: the Democrat Party and the Deep State working hand-in-hand.
Lindsey Graham is not taking no for an answer. He has decided, as has Senator Charles Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein, a ranking Democrat on the Committee, and other members of the panel, that James Comey has neither adequately explained himself in regards to Hillary and her illegal email server, nor has he provided any details about when he actually decided to not consider an indictment against her!
Sen. Lindsey Graham told Fox News on Thursday that he wants to bring back James Comey to testify on Capitol Hill, citing concerns about his statements on the conclusion of the Hillary Clinton email case.
“This doesn’t add up, and I smell a rat here,” Graham, R-S.C., said in an interview with Fox News’ Catherine Herridge.
The Republican senator, who chairs a Senate Judiciary subcommittee, and Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, last week revealed new details they learned about the Clinton case from interview transcripts.
According to the senators, the transcripts say Comey began drafting an “exoneration statement” for Clinton weeks before interviewing her – which in turn raised questions about the former FBI director’s testimony in June before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
At the time, Comey was asked whether his decision to announce the results of the investigation in July 2016 was influenced by then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s infamous meeting days earlier on an Arizona tarmac with former President Bill Clinton.
“He needs to come back to committee,” Graham said.
Graham said there are two issues he wants to discuss.
The first is whether Comey had “predetermined the result” of the email probe before the Clinton interview, “contrary” to his testimony.
The second concerns Comey’s claim that he jumped into the fray because of the tarmac meeting. Graham said he has reason to believe the “real reason may have been some email between the DNC and the Justice Department about the scope of the Clinton investigation,” and this would be “completely different than when he publicly testified.”
Senator Grassley has been attempting to get answers to these questions for many months now. In addition to that, he is also working on the other high-profile Trump-Russia Collusion case and that is proving to be just as dicey. The efforts by the Committee to get even a small amount of cooperation seems fraught with non-compliance, or outright refusal to provide documents.
It seems like this would be something that would drive the Department of Justice to begin looking into these allegations as well, but with their deep involvement in the immigration issues of the day, as well as the Awan investigations, and the newest DACA announcement, it is unlikely that Sessions’ department will be able to initiate anything other than stronger coffee for his team.
