The attacks from the left on President Trump and his administration will continue unabated. It’s just the subjects of those attacks that will shift around from time to time. The travel ban that the courts have put on hold has been a major target.
Now the resignation of Michael Flynn as President Trump’s national security advisor and his alleged connections to Russian officials is a major topic for debate.
Those who are eager to use General Flynn’s resignation as a means for attacking President Trump need to step back a bit and be sure this is a path they wish to follow. There are some inconvenient facts that might surface that the left would likely prefer to be ignored.
We begin with what has gotten Flynn into trouble and caused this turmoil: “According to Fox News, Flynn’s resignation was triggered by phone conversation Flynn had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak regarding sanctions, which could have technically violated federal law that prohibits private citizens from interfering in negotiations with foreign governments.”
While that is one issue that is open to debate, there are others. For example, Rush Limbaugh pointed out that,“To show you just how lame the media is and how little they’ve got, they’re already asking, ‘what did Trump know and when did he know it,’ and that’s not the question. The question is, ‘what did Barack Obama know and when did he know it and what has he engineered here?’” Limbaugh said. “This all happened with Flynn back in December. Trump had not even been inaugurated yet. And it’s still mysterious to me what really happened.”
From Conservative Tribune: Indeed, the Wall Street Journal confirmed that intelligence sources had intercepted some of the calls, which would have meant that President Obama, who was still in office at the time, could have been aware of them.
So, if evidence exists to place President Trump under suspicion, that same evidence would demand an investigation into what Mr. Obama knew during the time he was president. In fact, it could be that Mr. Obama instead of Mr. Trump should be the target of investigations.
Limbaugh continues his examination of Flynn’s links to the Obama administration: “In September 2011, Mike Flynn was promoted to lieutenant general assigned to the office of the Director of National Intelligence by Barack Obama. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Michael Flynn to be the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency,’ Limbaugh said.” [Emphasis added]
Limbaugh pointed out not only Flynn’s connections to the Obama administration, but that he is a Democrat.
Is it possible the Mr. Obama knew of these alleged irregularities, and chose to do nothing, thereby passing the problem on to surface should President Trump appoint General Flynn to a position in his administration? Given the intensity of Mr. Obama’s work in organizing to oppose President Trump and his agenda, that possibility cannot be ruled out.
