Lately, the new left, radicalized during the reign of former President Barack Obama, has been on a crusade to basically eradicate America’s history. They desperately want to change it to all the warm and fuzzy feelings that most liberals and their snowflake progeny want to surround themselves with at all times.
Well, the truth is, America has both some very lovely and some very terrible moments during its lifespan. But the liberals want to forget all the bad and focus on the good. But if you forget the bad, history has a better chance of repeating itself. And not for the good.
So Alabama has quickly recognized the radical left’s intentions to pretend the Civil War did not exist, by forcing the removal of all Confederate monuments and flags from public display. It’s been an ongoing process and many statues of Civil War veterans have already been removed to who knows where. But Alabama has the perfect response to the revisionist historians who are throwing their weight around. The state passed a law that prevents the removal of any monuments that have stood for 40 years or longer.
Breitbart has more:
The Alabama Memorial Preservation Act of 2017, signed into law Wednesday by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R), protects historical Confederate monuments which have come under fire in recent weeks by Democratic politicians.
The new legislation prohibits:
The relocation, removal, alteration, renaming, or other disturbance of any architecturally significant building, memorial building, memorial street, or monument located on public property which has been in place for 40 or more years.
State Sen. Gerald Allen (R-Tuscaloosa), who proposed the bill, noted protecting monuments is about preserving history for future generations to learn from, the Huffington Post reported.
“I appreciate Gov. Ivey standing up for the thoughtful preservation of Alabama’s history,” Allen said. “Contrary to what its detractors say, the Memorial Preservation Act is intended to preserve all of Alabama’s history ― the good and the bad ― so our children and grandchildren can learn from the past to create a better future.”
It isn’t surprising that activist Democrats want the history of their own party removed, because it’s a testament to the atrocities committed by former Democrat ideologies. But once again, instead of admitting their mistake of the past and reminding future generation to not make the same mistakes as they did, they instead want to pretend that nothing bad has ever happened.
A state of denial will only get us closer to forgetting and letting the horrors of the past come back to haunt us in the future. Thank goodness Alabama recognizes that we need to remember history in its purest form!
