It’s beginning to look like Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz might want to start learning how to make license plates, or whatever women do in prison. The Congressional IT staffer scandal that we’ve been following for months is not going away, and Debbie is right in the middle of it. Keep in mind that we are in the early stages of an investigation that has already resulted in federal indictments. Plan on more to come.
Debbie is starting to sound more and more like she’s getting desperate. She has ridiculed the investigation, offered her assurance that the parties who have been arrested by the FBI and indicted are upstanding people, and that the whole business of hacking of DNC servers and perhaps others was no big deal anyway.
Stop and think about that for a moment. Why is she sticking her neck out for this team? Is it because she is so honorable and noble that she will not allow her innocent former staff members to be unjustly accused even at risk to herself? Hardly.
The real reason is obvious. The trail runs back to Debbie. She is neck-deep in this mess, and realizes that the only way to keep herself out of trouble is to get her Muslim IT staffer friends out of trouble, something that is now impossible for her to do with criminal trials impending.
So that’s where we were. Matters have just been ratcheted up a bit more. It turns out that indicted former IT staffer Imran Awan had rented a house to U.S. Marine Andre Taggart. Taggart has already provided evidence to the FBI that is being used to build the case against Awan.
Now Taggert has learned that Wasserman Schultz is claiming that all the accusations against Awan are a result of “Islamophobia,” and he is furious. He has gone public stating that the scandal is real, has nothing to do with “Islamophobia,” and that there are a bunch of people who should go to jail. Wonder if he includes Debbie in that group?
“A Marine who provided key evidence in the FBI case against Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s former IT employee said he is appalled by her claim that Islamophobia led U.S. Capitol Police to frame the former staffer.
“Andre Taggart alerted the FBI to damaged hard drives and a cache of electronics tied to Imran Awan, a former IT specialist for dozens of House Democrats. Awan is the central figure in a criminal investigation of suspected procurement fraud and violations of the congressional IT network, including diverting data to an off-site server.
“Taggart told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group Wednesday that “it was amazing” that Wasserman Schultz, a Florida Democrat, describes Imran as a victim of religious discrimination by law enforcement. Taggart rented the Northern Virginia home of Awan, who had frantically moved out after learning authorities were onto him.”
If you love “true crime” stories, then you have the privilege of watching one unfold right before you. The connections among these people are getting complicated enough that you might need a scorecard to keep it all straight. And we’re only in the first couple of innings of this game.
Anyway, Taggart, who claims to be a Democrat by the way, appears now to have it in for Debbie. This after she made that outrage claim of “Islamophobia,” which is also essentially calling Taggart a liar over the evidence he’s provided to the FBI. And this Marine doesn’t appreciate it, and has these 4 special words for Debbie:
“‘It pisses me off,’ said Taggart, a black Marine who says he votes Democrat. He believes Wasserman Schultz is crying wolf and devaluing the meaning of genuine discrimination, while also exposing herself and the nation to risks.”
Claiming that the former chair of the DNC is “devaluing the meaning of genuine discrimination,” is no help to the Democratic Party, even though he’s right. It looks like Debbie is more of a liability to the Democrats than an asset. Party leadership secretly would probably rather her seat be held by a Republican who would not disgrace the Democratic Party and who could always be accused of being in league with the Russians.
“Wasserman Schultz claimed Imran Awan is being ‘persecuted’ by the Capitol Police and FBI after she was told that he is suspected of ‘data transfer violations,’ even as she lamented the seriousness of the hacking of the Democratic National Committee. Wasserman Schultz was chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee when its IT network was hacked in 2016.
“‘I just want to get these [guys] locked up and exposed and now,’ Taggart told TheDCNF. ‘The people who facilitated them should also be locked up, as far as I’m concerned.'”
If U.S. Marine Taggart gets his wish, then there are going to be a whole bunch early vacancies to be filled among Democratic Congresspersons since there were quite a few who employed Awan and his team of Muslim IT staffers.
“Taggart said he made the decision to no longer be anonymous because he is concerned that his fellow Democrats are making a grave mistake by ignoring a scandal with serious criminal and national security implications.
“‘I’m absolutely disgusted with everything going on in the country right now, mostly because of right-wing conservatives, but with respect to this situation, political affiliation is irrelevant,’ Taggart said.”
While Taggart is wrong that the problems with this country are “mostly because of right-wing conservatives,” one must respect his integrity. And in that regard, he is absolutely correct that “with respect to this situation, political affiliation is irrelevant.”
This Marine has it right. Officeholders’ innocence or guilt when accused must not be determined by the political party with which they are affiliated. He is also correct that it is likely that sensitive documents were compromised by this scandal.
Debbie, you blew it. You’re nervous because you think you’re going down with this bunch, so you’re trying to get them off the hook. Instead, you just made matters worse for yourself.
Keep it up and you’ll talk yourself right into that job making license plates.
