As is always the case in disasters, there are those who flock to the scene to assist those in need and there are those who crawl out from under the rocks and from the dark places to steal from those in need. Usually, these cowards wait until the rescuers have arrived and begin evacuating the people who need assistance.
These people who capitalize on the absence of those who have been forced to leave their homes and valuables are the same ones that, following the disaster, tramp off to the nearest government office for assistance, claiming hardship.
Texas is quite a different place when it comes to homeowners and their pride and ability to protect themselves. Typically, looters who arrive at the scene of a terrible ordeal are able to take more than they need from those who are not there to protect their property. In Texas, a homeowner who was in his home and enduring the harsh hurricane, heard the sound of an intruder attempting to loot from his home. The homeowner took aim and fired at the would-be robber.
Independent Journal Review:
When fierce hurricanes come in, it’s not uncommon for crime to go up.
On Friday night, as Hurricane Harvey make landfall in Texas, a robber tried to break into a home in Corpus Christi. However, the tables turned on him in an instant.
According to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times:
About 11 p.m. Corpus Christi police officers responded to the 7100 block of Ficus Court, near Yorktown Boulevard.
Officers found a man who had been shot in the head, officials said. According to officers at the scene, the man had broken into the residence and was shot by the homeowner.
The suspect reportedly lived through the injury.
But that wasn’t the only incident as Hurricane Harvey came rolling in. In Houston, another alleged robber tried to break into a person’s home. This time, though, the intruder didn’t survive.
The Houston Chronicle reported that:
An alleged intruder was shot dead by a home resident in Houston’s Greater East End early Saturday.
Authorities received a call about the incident around 3 a.m., according to the Houston Police Department’s homicide division.
According to Concealed Nation, there are over 22,000,000 guns in Texas. It’s no wonder the robbers were met with such force in their failed crimes.
The Liberal line on looting is, if it happens during a riot, natural disaster, or a man-made disaster, it’s perfectly natural and even expected. There are so many people who have nothing and, when an opportunity arrives, instead of helping their fellow man, they opt to do the evil deed instead.
The problem with this mode of thinking is that it is dependent upon WHO is doing the looting. You can bet your life savings that if the Charlottesville Right-wing demonstrators had participated in looting, it would have been front page news for at least a month with Leftist anchors appalled and beside themselves in exasperation. Welcome to the modern Democrat Party.
