Life used to be so simple in the military. Back when I was a soldier, basic training was segregated. Men’s barracks were on one part of the installation and women’s barracks were on another. Men and women were trained separately because men and women require different types of training for the same goal. While men’s triggers may be one psychological path to success, women’s triggers are completely different.
This type of training requires segregation for a fighting force to be at the peak of its skills and combat readiness. When I was getting out of the military back in 1992, right after Desert Storm, combat readiness had begun to decline because men and women had begun being trained together. A recruit straight out of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) was assigned under my command who didn’t even know how to produce a basic memo (her job was 71L, Administrative Specialist). That’s the equivalent of a surgeon not being able to take a pulse. Needless to say, she enlightened me to how she had been dating her drill sergeant during training!
With the Regressive movement insinuating every Leftist issue into the military, it is no wonder that so many service members claiming to be transgender are now cropping up. No longer should we worry only about the integration of men and women training together, now we must also worry about the men who are women and women who are men sharing showers and barracks bunks. The House has now opted to also pay for sex-reassignment surgery for these troops.
Twenty-[three] Republicans banded together on Thursday to defeat an amendment which would have ended former President Barack Obama’s 2016 policy of funding “gender-reassignment” surgery for soldiers who want to live as members of the opposite sex.
The amendment to the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act was offered by Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R, Mo.). It would have prohibited the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for the non-military medical task of converting healthy soldiers into “transgender” soldiers who face lifelong dependence on hormones and surgery.
The July 13 vote saw Democrats vote in lockstep to defeat the amendment, despite the national unpopularity of the transgender ideology. They were joined by 2 Republicans who broke with their party to assist the Democrats to defeat the amendment, without any visible objections by the GOP’s business-focused leadership.
If you’re wondering who these 23 Republicans are who were so on the wrong side of this issue, here they are:
Justin Amash (Michigan) Jack Bergman (Michigan)
Mike Coffman (Colorado) Barbara Comstock (Virginia)
Paul Cook (California) Ryan Costello (Pennsylvania)
Carlos Curbelo (Florida) Jeff Denham (California)
Charlie Dent (Pennsylvania) John Faso (New York)
Brian Fitzpatrick (Pennsylvania) Darrell Issa (California)
John Katko (New York) Steve Knight (California)
Leonard Lance (New Jersey) Frank LoBiondo (New Jersey)
Tom MacArthur (New Jersey) Tom Reed (New York)
Dave Reichert (Washington) Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Florida)
Bill Shuster (Pennsylvania) Elise Stefanik (New York)
Claudia Tenney (New York)
You’ll note that these 23 were all from predominantly Liberal states, except for Pennsylvania and Florida. All but 3 of these states voted for Hillary. These are RINOs through and through who were so frightened of the Leftist transgender community that they opted to stand with a tiny percentage of the population versus the rest of the constituency who felt this was a very bad idea.
