Democrats being, well, Democrats, they always love to throw around an unsubstantiated accusation here and there just to stir things up a bit, since there will always be a few low-information dimwits who will hang on their every word without even questioning the veracity of their statements.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) made the astonishing claim to CNN anchor Poppy Harlow, who immediately requested Swalwell prove his claim by producing evidence. Naturally, Swalwell didn’t have any evidence, so he did what most liars do when they can’t prove their statements. He simply repeated his claims!
This congressman may not have put his foot right in his mouth, but he did get awfully close in statements he made to this CNN reporter about his claims that he had seen evidence, both classified and unclassified, of collusion between President Trump’s election campaign and Russia.
From Independent Journal Review:
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) made the explosive claim on Monday that he has personally seen evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.
Such a revelation would be huge, as even former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has said he has seen no concrete evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia.
“I have seen evidence, both on the unclassified and classified side, of collusion,” Swalwell told CNN.
That’s when CNN anchor Poppy Harlow requested that Swalwell share the unclassified “evidence” showing the alleged collusion. As it turned out, Swalwell didn’t appear to be in possession of the smoking gun as his claim indicated.
The Democrat was unable to provide any new information, instead repeating details from reports about questionable activity of former Trump advisers Carter Page, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, and Michael Flynn.
CNN’s John Berman continued to press Swalwell to produce the evidence but to no avail:
“These all may be questionable activity, some of them may actually be in violation of the law, but what you have said on CNN is you have seen evidence of collusion between Trump campaign associates and the Russians,” CNN’s John Berman replied.
When pressed further to produce evidence to back up his “incendiary charge,” Swalwell claimed he has “a lot more” examples of collusion in addition to what he already shared.
“That’s not evidence of collusion,” Berman shot back. “That’s evidence, again, of possible wrongdoing, it’s evidence of sketchy activities, but not, as far as I can tell, that they were actually working together on the campaign.”
In the end, Swalwell fell back on his assertion that there is more classified evidence of collusion that he is not able to share.
Even CNN wasn’t buying Swalwell’s snake oil!
If Democrats think they will bring the Trump administration down with insinuations and false allegations, they have another thing coming! The truth is, they have no evidence of collusion by Trump’s campaign staff. Democrats just believe, like every other corrupt politician, that all it takes is repetition for a lie to become truth to their mindless liberal minions!
