We have seen the devastating effects of the Obama Administration, namely, its indifference to our ally Israel these past eight years. Last month, we saw exactly how Obama felt about Benjamin Netanyahu, when he allowed for the abstention of our vote in the United Nations resolution that would directly harm Israel.
Barack Obama was so proud of his involvement in sticking a knife into Israel, that he even proclaimed it in his last interview with CBS, and he even took credit for all of the logistics involved in getting that resolution passed.
But, no more. With a new administration under the guidance of Donald Trump, and with both house of Congress being Republican, things are about to change.
First and foremost, the House has now introduced a bill to remove the United States from the United Nation, completely.
From Conservative Tribune:
According to WMAZ, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act (H.R. 193), sponsored by Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., would also end the 1947 agreement that houses the U.N. headquarters in New York City, end U.S. funding for U.N. peacekeeping operations and end U.S. participation in the World Health Organization, among other measures.
If the bill should pass, it would go into effect two years after being signed.
R. 193 is separate from legislation introduced last month by Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina that would halt U.S. funding to the U.N. until the Security Council repeals its resolution that called Israel’s building of settlements in disputed areas a violation of international law.
No matter what its ideals were when it was founded, the United Nations for most of its history has been largely anti-democratic, anti-Western and anti-liberty. The anti-Israel Security Council resolution that passed in December with the acquiescence of the Obama administration is just the latest example.
Moreover, the U.S. gives the organization billions of dollars a year and gets very little in return. In fact, the U.S. would likely get more out of the U.N. if it converted its Manhattan headquarters into condominiums, as commentator Charles Krauthammer jokingly suggested on Fox News last month.
Between the House bill by Rep. Rogers, and the Senate bill by Sen. Cruz and Sen. Graham, we should see some significant progress into removing our ties with the United Nations and instead, build our relationship with Israel once again.
What a great start to the next four, hopefully eight years!
