What must be understood is that the left is not in favor of freedom of speech or the free exchange of ideas.
These are just terms they use to make their arguments sound good and to make certain they have a place on the stage.
When it comes to groups that oppose the left such as Pro-Lifers, those who support secure borders, or those who are conservative Christians, the left actively works to silence them and their views.
Terms are invented or misused to denigrate such groups and avoid having to confront them in a fair and open debate.
Hence the lefts calls us bigots, racists, homophobes, and even neo-Nazis in at attempt to preclude our right to freedom of speech.
We must not be deterred, and we can rejoice in our victories.
One victory just happened as the St. Louis Cardinals baseball club refused the demands by the left to cancel Christian Day at the ballpark, an event that has been held annually for about 30 years.
“The LGBT community is up in arms after the St. Louis Cardinals refused to back down after taking a massive stand for Christianity.
“The team’s ‘Christian Day’ event this year features Lance Berkman, former Cardinals All-Star Outfielder.
“Berkman, a Christian, was criticized when in 2015 he spoke out against transgender bathrooms. The LGBT community branded Berkman a homophobe over his opposition to a Houston city ordinance that would allow individuals to choose bathrooms based on their gender identity rather than their biological sex.”
There is the name-calling that is such a familiar tactic by the left. And Berkman’s remark during an interview where he stated that “tolerance” is killing our country was sure to drive the left into a frenzy.
“In an interview with The Houston Chronicle at the time, Berkman said that ‘Tolerance is the virtue that’s killing this country.'”
The left was not finished.
“‘Pride St. Louis is disappointed by the decision of the St. Louis Cardinals to provide a public platform for Berkman, an individual whose words and actions towards the LGBTQ+ are divisive and demeaning,’ the statement said.”
The hypocrisy of the left is obvious to anyone who wants to see it.
Their policy is one of freedom of speech for those expressing their own views, and one of censorship, using violence if necessary, for those who oppose their views.
Not so tolerant after all.
Anyway, the Cardinals have refused to cancel Christian Day or to drop Berkman as the speaker.
This really is a terrific victory.
And since this writer has attended this event in the past, I’m delighted that our home team is standing on principle and allowing this event to go on as planned.
Regardless of the score that day, this is a win for the home team.
