With so much speculation regarding the Shanghai Cooperative Organization (SCO) and its growing influence in the Middle East and African nations, it’s no wonder that both Russia and China have become so powerful since their historic joining of forces that, when all is said and done, accounts for more than “half of humanity.”
Russia and China have been toying with the idea of even creating their own military force that would rival that of NATO itself and this is worrisome to some military and intelligence analysts. A covert strategy has been under way as well to help recruit new member nations to the SCO through diplomatic means.
It appears that the newest thrust by the Russians to have an advancing influence in the Middle East and African nations is paying off as they have announced plans to begin construction of a nuclear facility in the African nation of Egypt!
Russian media said Monday that Egypt has finalized a deal to build a nuclear power plant with funding from Moscow after nearly two years of negotiations.
The reports came after Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China, where they were attending a summit.
The nuclear plant will be built in Dabaa, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of Cairo on the Mediterranean coast.
Egypt’s presidency said el-Sissi has invited Putin to Egypt to mark the start of construction.
In 2015, Egypt signed an agreement with Russia to build a four-reactor power plant. It will receive a $25 billion Russian loan to cover 85 percent of the plant, with a capacity of 4,800 megawatts.
Take note that this announcement comes with the name of China attached. The SCO has been active in amassing Muslim nations under its growing belt and some view it as the next big rising economic and military power in the world that may even have the capacity to shut down NATO’s dominance.
With China also courting Israel for a new intercontinental rail line that will stretch from China all the way to the Mediterranean, it’s doubtful that America will have much influence left in that region should they manage to scoop up the Jewish State as well.
