With the new, fresh, 115th Congress reporting for duty earlier this month, the United States Senate has been busy preparing for Donald Trump’s arrival by meeting with his Cabinet picks.
The formal Senate Confirmation hearings are typically a long affair for each Cabinet choice, as they can be ruthlessly and senselessly grilled using hypothetical situations, rhetorical questions, or discussions angled as “gotcha” moments.
For this particular hearing, Senator Bernie Sanders, desperate for garnering more attention after his failed presidential run, is attempting to politicize the role of Education Secretary while at the same time, striving to gain further political importance.
Amazingly, Cabinet Appointee Betsy DeVos will have none of it.
From Louder with Crowder:
The left, especially the teachers’ unions, hate Betsy DeVos with the fire of a thousand suns. In fact, if we want to talk about the sources of man-made global warming climate change of the hot hots, let’s maybe examine the all-consuming rage of liberalism, yes? So because the unions loathe her with such ferocity, she’ll make a great education secretary. But the way she handled Bernie Sanders on free college (see Mike Rowe Schools Bernie Sanders on ‘Free College for All’and Even Chris Matthews DESTROYS Bernie Supporter on Free College)? I think I’m in love…
“Senator I think that’s a really interesting idea and I think it’s really great to consider and think about, but I think we also have to consider the fact that there’s nothing in life that’s truly free.”
Take a moment to bask in the tone DeVos used. Like she was speaking to a child of about four. Which is not inappropriate when addressing Bernie “I want it all free” Sanders.
Thank you Betsy DeVos for not taking the bait, and simply stating what every American has known for a very long time: there is no such thing as a free lunch! How this basic economic principle is so difficult for liberals like Bernie Sanders to understand is beyond me.
But I guess since Bernie has never worked a real job a day in his life, and he is so far from the real world, he’s better off just retiring, living off his Senator pension, and hiding in his vacation home in Vermont.
