As tough as it is to imagine, the arrogance of the Obamas might even exceed that of the Clintons. If so, that is an accomplishment. And as astonishing as it might be, recent news indicates that Mr. Obama is likely the most egotistical president in recent memory.
We are all aware of the the fact that presidential libraries are constructed to house the papers and historical artifacts of each president. It’s one of those things that we mindlessly spend tax dollars on to memorialize those who we’d often prefer to forget.
However, when it comes to this expense, the Obamas have taken things to a new level. They expect $1.5 billion in taxpayer funds to construct a presidential museum in Chicago with a portion of it dedicated to Barack and Michelle’s personal lives. What to say to such an outrage?
So we are expected to fund not just a library to house whatever papers and artifacts of the Obama administration that possess some alleged value, but also something of a personal shrine to their lives. What is this? Arrogance? Stupidity? Mindlessness? One thing it is for sure, an outrageous misuse of taxpayers’ money.
Page Six has some details: “The Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago could require a $1.5 billion endowment, its architects say, three times what was raised for the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas. Husband-and-wife architectural team Tod Williams and Billie Tsien noted that it will be difficult to raise such a huge sum because Obama scrupulously declined to do much fundraising while he was still in office.”
Now there’s a good liberal for you. The taxpayers are going to get stuck with the bill anyway, so why put forth any effort to fund your own library and shrine?
Here’s some more information to arouse your ire: “The Obama Center is due to be so expensive because it will require the construction of both a presidential library and a museum about the lives of Barack and Michelle Obama. And federal requirements now stipulate that former presidents must have larger endowments to pay for annual operating costs at the libraries.”
Can you imagine how dreadfully boring touring a museum dedicated to the lives of the Obamas would be? Except for the mindless liberals who worshiped them, you would expect to have to pay people to go visit such a prosaic venue.
How about this – can the presidential library and museum and save the $1.5 billion. Instead put a statue of the pair somewhere in Chicago. More people would see it, and the cost would be minuscule, more in line with his positive contributions to America. Any papers from his administration worth reading are probably already on-line courtesy of WikiLeaks.
