The US Constitution gives the president the power to pardon criminals and to commute (shorten) their prison sentences. It’s a power that presidents do use, although Mr. Obama has taken things to the extreme. And recall that as of the writing of this article, he still has two days to go.
Bill Clinton was another president who made copious use of his power to pardon. In fact, one of his more famous pardons was granted to billionaire investor and hedge-fund manager Marc Rich, who ran afoul of the law for his tax evasion and corrupt oil deals. Turns out Mr. Rich was a force in Democratic politics, and more importantly, a major contributor to Democratic politicians. Apparently, Mr. Clinton did not believe we could have such a valuable asset to the nation rotting away in prison, so he pardoned him (did you sense the sarcasm there?).
Mr. Obama, having pardoned hundreds and having commuted the sentences of well over 1,000, he has just extended leniency to one individual that will make history. And it’s disgusting.
Chelsea Manning, formerly Bradley Manning, is in the military penitentiary in Leavenworth serving a 35-year sentence for leaking government secrets through WikiLeaks. But not for much longer as, “President Obama on Tuesday largely commuted the remaining prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the army intelligence analyst convicted of an enormous 2010 leak that revealed American military and diplomatic activities across the world, disrupted the administration and made WikiLeaks, the recipient of those disclosures, famous.”
The story continues: “The decision by Mr. Obama rescued Ms. Manning, who twice tried to kill herself last year, from an uncertain future as a transgender woman incarcerated at the men’s military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. She has been jailed for nearly seven years, and her 35-year sentence was by far the longest punishment ever imposed in the United States for a leak conviction.”
This case is also noteworthy in that at some point along the line, apparently Bradley decided he was now a she, and adopted the new first name of Chelsea.
Twitter provided some interesting comments on the release of this individual who committed treason and subjected who knows how many agents and others to the possibility of being killed what with their identities being publicly revealed.
Chelsea Manning's treachery put American lives at risk and exposed some of our nation's most sensitive secrets.

The following tweet calls the Democrats out of hypocrisy: Free Manning for revealing classified information, but imprison whomever hacked and released the DNC emails.
Chelsea Manning is a "hero" for leaking military secrets!?
Whoever leaked the DNC emails should be in prison!?

Then we have this man’s take on the transgender issue for your thought and consideration.
So how long after "Chelsea Manning" is released does he go back to being "Bradley Manning" now that the ruse worked for early release?

While we cannot say what Manning’s motivations were for the transgender announcement, we do know that this person was a traitor. We also know that this pardon will go down as yet one more infamous act of political expediency by Mr. Obama, who is a traitor, just like Manning.
