It is considered “politically correct” nowadays for liberal leftists to thumb their noses at the law and blame their lawlessness on President Donald Trump. In their minds, his election wasn’t really legal, because it was the Electoral College that put him in office instead of the “popular vote” which showed Hillary to be the winner.
The attitude of “Trump’s not my president” has even carried over to some in positions of authority, such as mayors of sanctuary cities, who are defiantly refusing to enforce Trump’s new illegal immigration policy. The president’s response? Trump has correctly and justly threatened to cut off federal funding to those cities.
Of course, the mayors of those cities aren’t liking that idea. Their response is now to threaten legal action against President Trump. So what happens now? Conservative favorite Ann Coulter has a few good ideas that will further help the cause of keeping America safe again from illegal aliens and hold these mayors fully accountable for their law-breaking actions!
From the Blaze:
“If they actually act to take away our money, we’ll see them in court,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, according to a report by Fox News.
“We will fight to protect the safety and dignity of all Angelenos,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said. “We will work closely with our representatives in Congress to make sure that Los Angeles does not go without federal resources that help protect millions of people every day.”
On Saturday, commentator Ann Coulter appeared on FOX News’“Watters’ World” to speak on the subject of the defiance shown towards Trump’s “No Sanctuary Cities” policy by the mayors of those cities:
“Do you think more needs to be done?” Watters asked Coulter.
Watch the video of Ann Coulter’s interview:
“A lot more federal funds could be withheld,” Coulter said. “Congress may need to pass a law to allow other federal funds to be withheld. There are certain categories of them that the attorney general is able to withhold, but, I mean the IRS used tax policy to dictate the dating policies at Bob Jones University. Oh no, the federal government can have a very big impact on not only private schools, but on cities and towns.”
“Remember, it was Liddy Dole who changed the national speed limit to 55 mph, by threatening to give them highway funds,” Coulter continued. “But the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution says federal laws are supreme over state law. It’s treated like a ratchet. So, if it’s a federal law liberals like—like, we shall have one national abortion law, abortion will be legal—that must be enforced.”
“But when it comes to things that are, by definition, laws that the federal government ought to be dealing with—immigration, I mean you can’t contain immigration to a single city or a single state. They can walk around,” said Coulter. “They can go from one town to the next to kill people. … Of course, immigration is a federal responsibility.”
Sooner or later the Trump-haters are going to have to accept the fact that Trump will be the president for the next four years, if not more. If they insist on defying him in doing what his voters put him in office to do then they will suffer the consequences for their defiance. End of story!
