For the past eight to ten years, we have experienced a significant downturn in our economy. We had to endure the housing bubble burst from 2007-2009, followed by a very slow recovery. It was devastating to watch Americans fall on hard times, especially as many had to take part time jobs, because full time jobs with benefits were so elusive.
Fast forward to 2017, and within the past month, we have seen a significant shift in the American economy. U.S. consumer confidence is high, and we have seen both Carrier and SoftBank commit to creating and keeping jobs in America. Today, we have received jaw-dropping news about another company’s commitment to keep jobs in the United States!
This morning, Ford announced that they are no longer going to build their plant in Mexico, but expand in Michigan!
In a big U-turn, Ford is canceling plans to build a new $1.6 billion plant in Mexico. Instead it will invest $700 million in Michigan — creating 700 new U.S. jobs.
The $700 million will be invested in Ford’s Flat Rock, Michigan plant to produce more electric and self-driving cars.
Ford executives spoke with President-elect Donald Trump and vice-president elect Mike Pence this morning.
Dare we say it? It’s the TRUMP EFFECT!
Ford CEO Mark Fields calls this move a “vote of confidence” for the incoming Trump Administration.
Between the announcements of Carrier, SoftBank, and now Ford, over 50,000 jobs are staying in the United States!
America, we are back in business! 2017 is shaping up to be a fantastic year. With Republicans controlling the House, Senate, and Presidency, let’s hope that they are good on their word and continue to create the environment to help hard-working Americans keep their jobs, keep more money in their pockets, and keep their freedoms secure.
Now the question becomes, what company will be next and help us Make America Great Again?
